What we do...
We transfer 8mm or Super8 movies to DVD. Please note: we
cannot process Super8 sound movies.
What does this involve and how is our transfer method better than many other services? We're glad you asked...
The first thing we do when we receive your original films is inspect them. We're looking for damage to the film or reel, as well as how dirty the film surface has become over the years (films can get dusty in even the cleanest of houses). If necessary, we will clean the film and do "minor" repairs at no additional charge to you (such as simple splicing in a few places). At this point, assuming that they even do this much, most transfer services project your film into a transfer box using a regular projector and videotape the result. We transfer your film frame-by-frame, with our professional grade 3CCD videocamera actually recording the surface of your film. The resulting video is therefore flicker-free, records the entire frame (many services crop the picture), and is possibly crisper than you've ever seen it before, even when it was brand-new! We then will review the transferred video, remove obvious flaws (blank areas, etc.), add video transitions between obvious "scene" changes, add generic music that fits the context (unless you request otherwise) and transfer it to the final form at the highest resolution possible. Please note- you are only charged for what is transferred!
For transfers to DVDs ordered without "navigation", the films will play in the order you submitted them. Labels will be "generic" and include only the customer's name and any title they requested. Generic DVDs will not have a Menu nor Chapter points. DVDs with "navigation" will include an interactive Menu with "thumbnail" menu buttons jumping to each included film, or the ability to play the entire DVD. The video of each original film will be reviewed for inclusion of context sensitive Chapter marks for easier viewing.
Additional copies, up to a maximum of 20, of the final DVD(s) may be purchased at $7 per DVD copy. Raven Multimedia may not keep any copies of the videos produced after they are shipped to the customer.
